Welcome to Issue #009 of The Blueprint.

 

Celina’s first half of 2026 has been historic by any measure. More businesses opened, more foundations poured, and more activity than most cities twice our size see in a full year. Did I mention we were also named the Fastest Growing City in the United States? But as we head into summer, the pace of new announcements is settling into a natural rhythm, even if the stories are getting bigger.

Costco is closer than ever, Academy is hiring on site, and a professional soccer club is building a pitch in the heart of downtown.

Latest Updates on the Big Brands Coming to Celina

Home Depot

Home Depot

Current Status: Landscaping & Interior Buildout

Target Opening: August 2026

What's Changed: The Home Depot sign is now lit and front landscaping is in progress. The building shell is largely complete from the outside while interior work including shelving, racking, and buildout has been ongoing for several weeks. The parking lot and exterior site work out front are the last visible pieces still in progress.

Next Milestone: Interior completion, stocking, and grand opening announcement.

Costco

Costco

Current Status: Final Exterior Work & Interior Buildout

Target Opening: August 2026

What's Changed: The exterior is nearly complete with Costco’s signature tan and brown facade. On the interior, crews have installed lighting and are currently working on the shelving and racking infrastructure. Costco has also posted 48 open positions for this location and, if you read our last issue, that indicates they may be targeting an August opening.

Next Milestone: Interior completion, stocking, and grand opening announcement.

Academy

Academy

Current Status: Final Exterior Work & Interior Buildout

Target Opening: Q3 2026

What's Changed: Scaffolding spans the entire front facade as crews finish the upper exterior cladding. The parking lot is paved, trees are planted, and contractor activity remains heavy. Interior buildout has been underway for several weeks and Academy has set up a dedicated hiring trailer on site, meaning we could hear about a target opening date very soon.

Next Milestone: Scaffolding removal, exterior completion, and grand opening announcement.

EoS Fitness

Current Status: Mass Grading & Site Prep

Target Opening: Q2 2027

What's Changed: Little noticeable progress has been made since last issue, but the site is being actively graded and compacted with heavy equipment as the pad starts to take shape. It’s still very early on, but the dirt work is moving along steadily.

Next Milestone: Foundation prep and underground utilities.

Rodeo SC is Bringing a Mini Pitch to Downtown Celina

The old Bongo Beaux’s property has been sitting vacant for months. But that’s about to change.

 

​Rodeo SC, Celina’s incoming professional soccer club, has partnered with Two Sons Fencing to convert the outdoor space into a full turf mini pitch, complete with goals, field markings, and the Rodeo SC logo at center. Construction is already underway.

 

Beginning June 12th, the location will serve as the home of Rodeo SC’s Summer of Soccer Fan Zone, running alongside the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Expect watch parties, outdoor music, youth activities, and adult leagues. Community members have also indicated LSA Burger and a full bar will be part of the experience, though Rodeo SC hasn’t officially confirmed those details. What they have confirmed is that a long-term solution beyond the summer is planned and will be announced in the coming weeks.

 

The mini pitch build is being handled by Two Sons Fencing, a family-owned, Celina-based contractor specializing in fencing, custom gates, pergolas, and outdoor living builds across DFW. Be sure to check them out for all of your fencing needs at twosonsfencing.com.

Target Opening: June 2026

Address: 8176 FM 2478, Suite E, McKinney, TX 75071

After some construction delays that pushed back their mid-May target, TBT Gym is in the final stretch. Equipment is actively being set up inside and their social media confirms a June opening is still on track.

We Rock the Spectrum

We Rock the Spectrum

Target Opening: June 2026

Address: 3510 N Louisiana Dr. Celina, TX 75009

We Rock the Spectrum has been actively hiring coaches and administrative roles since mid-May and a June opening remains the target. No official date has been announced yet.

Bojangles

Bojangles

Target Opening: June 2026

Address: 3615 S. Preston Rd. Celina, TX 75009

The building has looked ready for over a month, but the doors remain closed. The most likely explanation is a pending Certificate of Occupancy tied to landscaping, parking, or a final inspection. This one should be opening very soon.

Chipotle

Target Opening: Early-Mid July 2026

Address: 3520 S. Preston Rd. Celina, TX 75009

Celina’s first Chipotle is nearly ready. The building is complete, signage is up, and landscaping is finished. We reached out to Chipotle’s PR team directly and they confirmed a July opening is on track. No exact date yet, but this one is close.

Panda Express

Panda Express

Opened: June 2nd, 2026

Address: 3530 S. Preston Rd. Celina, TX 75009

Celina’s first Panda Express is officially open. We reached out to corporate back in May and they confirmed the May 29th target date, which held as their soft opening. Their official grand opening followed on June 2nd.

Willow Nail Lounge

Opened: May 23rd, 2026

Address: 3505 S. Preston Rd. #200, Celina, TX 75009

Willow Nail Lounge celebrated their grand opening on May 23rd to a packed house. Word spread fast and more than a few guests mentioned they heard about it here. If you haven’t checked them out yet, they’re open and welcoming new clients at the Village at Ownsby Farms.

D-BAT Celina

D-BAT Celina

Opened: May 22nd, 2026

Address: 8176 FM 2478, Building 9A, McKinney, TX 75071

D-BAT Celina is open and in full swing at their new location at Celina Business Park. The baseball and softball training facility offers hitting and pitching instruction for players of all skill levels, with memberships available and summer camps already underway.

PNC Bank

PNC Bank

Opened: May 19th, 2026

Address: 3605 S. Preston Rd. Celina, TX 75009

PNC Bank held their official grand opening on May 19th and is now fully operational at the Village at Ownsby Farms.

MSB Aquatics

MSB Aquatics

Opened: May 5th, 2026

Address: 565 S. Preston Rd. #110, Celina, TX 75009

MSB Aquatics opened May 5th at Celina Station, offering private and small-group swim instruction as a boutique alternative to high-volume schools. Their 13-year specialized curriculum is available and registration is open on their website.

Early Intel & Site Updates

Off the Rails Ice House and the "Celina Entertainment District"

What We Know: Most people driving down Sunset Blvd. see a country road lined with open land. What they don’t know is that stretch is about to become one of the more ambitious entertainment developments in Celina.

Off the Rails Ice House broke ground on a 4-acre site at 1413 Sunset Blvd, just east of Shades of Green. The project includes a 7,000 sqft. restaurant anchored by a massive 14,500 sqft. covered outdoor canopy; a structure designed for year-round outdoor dining, live events, and community gatherings. Developer Craig Hughes of Hughes Commercial Texas is partnering with owner Tucker Covington on the build, with Form Studios handling architecture and construction already underway.

This is the anchor of a larger 14-acre master planned Celina Entertainment District. And Off the Rails isn’t the only tenant in the pipeline. Eagle’s Wings Athletics, a gymnastics training facility with existing locations in Prosper and Anna, is also proposed for the district on a 1.71-acre site with an 8,000 SF purpose-built gymnasium. Additional pad sites remain available for sale or build-to-suit.

The Celina Chamber of Commerce is hosting the official groundbreaking ceremony on June 9th. If you want to attend, registration details are available here on the Chamber’s website.

What to Watch: This corridor is still largely raw land today, but the pieces are falling into place. Beyond Off the Rails and Eagle’s Wings, there are additional pad sites in the master plan that haven’t been spoken for yet. When tenants start getting announced, we’ll have it first.

Two New Tenants Confirmed at Central Plaza

What We Know: Central Plaza, the development at the northwest corner of Preston Road and Frontier Parkway, is moving fast and the tenant roster keeps growing.

The latest update from the developer shows two new tenants added to the leasing brochure: Mountain Mike’s Pizza and The Brunch District.

  • Mountain Mike’s Pizza is a California-based pizza chain with over 200 locations nationwide, known for their large-format family dining and sports bar atmosphere.
  • The Brunch District is a local, family-owned brunch concept serving classic and Tex-Mex dishes with 4 other locations in North Dallas.

Construction is actively underway with HBA Design + Build on site and the concrete slab poured as of last week. The development sits on Frontier Parkway just west of Preston Road, right in between McDonalds and Starbucks.

It’s worth noting that tenant lineups on site plans are fluid. Names can change as lease negotiations evolve. But this is the latest information available and both concepts represent meaningful additions to Celina’s dining scene if they hold.

What to Watch: 2 spaces are currently at lease (one of which has a drive-thru) and another is still available. Keep an eye out for any announcements regarding the final tenants at this location.
