So let’s get into it… I’m sure many of you have noticed the rapid pace of construction in South Celina right now. Between the massive walls going up at Academy and Home Depot, plus a wave of new doors recently opening, the landscape here is changing daily. Over the last two weeks, I’ve visited these sites and checked in with the owners to get a clearer picture of when these projects will be ready for you.
Here is the state of the city as of March 26.
Latest Updates on the Big Brands Coming to Celina
Current Status: Site Completion & Final Setup
Target Opening: April 29th, 2026
What's Changed: Walmart has removed the entryway barriers and installed the official gas and store signage off Preston.
Next Milestone: 33 days until the doors officially open!

Current Status: Roofing & Exterior Shell
Target Opening: August 2026
What's Changed: Focus has shifted to the outdoor garden center, and vertical steel and roof decking are moving at a rapid pace as the project pushes to fully seal the building shell.
Next Milestone: Completion of the roofing to reach the dry-in stage.

Current Status: Vertical Construction
Target Opening: Late Q4 2026
What's Changed: The project has officially reached its most visible milestone: going vertical. The first massive tilt-wall panels are standing, marking the end of the underground utility work and the beginning of the structural shell.
Next Milestone: Watch for the full perimeter of the building to be standing by mid-April.

Target Opening: Early April 2026

The MSB team is in the final stretch for their new Celina Station location and are targeting an early April opening. We will keep an eye out for an official date announcement in the coming days.

The Branch Manager has confirmed an April 13th opening date. PNC will join the lineup as the fifth operational pad to debut at the Village at Ownsby Farms.

Torchy’s is all set for April 15th. Don’t forget — the first 100 guests on opening day get FREE QUESO for a year. Expect a line starting early!

TBT is currently clearing inspections before they can officially open their doors. The owner is targeting a mid April launch date.

With furniture staged and menu boards lit, Bojangles is in the final countdown. While an official date hasn’t been announced, they are clearing final inspections for a targeted late April debut.

With the exterior shell and signage complete, Panda Express is in the final stretch. The site appears focused on clearing final inspections and securing safe customer access for a late April opening.

The owner confirmed they are currently checking off final punch-list items and coordinating remaining approvals. With the kitchen equipment already in place, the current target is an April debut.

The wait for toasted subs is officially over. Pickleman’s opened its doors this past Tuesday, bringing their signature sandwiches, pizza, and salads to South Celina. It’s a high-quality, fast-casual addition that’s already proving to be a local favorite for a quick lunch or family dinner.

Celina Blooms & Gifts is now open and brings custom floral arrangements and a gift boutique to downtown Celina. They specialize in everything from high-energy event florals to everyday bouquets, and offer a high-touch, artisan experience right in the heart of town.

Hawaiian-style BBQ has landed in Celina. Mo’ Bettahs opened their doors on March 20th and brings authentic island staples like Katsu Chicken, Teriyaki Steak, and Macaroni Salad. A fantastic addition to our growing local dining scene.

Alpha & Omega Gymnastics officially launched earlier this month and the new facility is already proving to be a world-class addition to the local gymnastics scene. A premier destination for youth fitness and skill-building.
Early Intel & Site Updates
What We Know: A lot of people have been inquiring about the structure going up next to the 7/11 off of Dallas Pkwy and Light Farms Way. Well, without further ado, I can confirm the planned tenants include: Hyderabad House Biryani Place, World Champion Taekwondo, and Maya Ice Cream Rolls.
What To Watch: The final tenant has signed a Letter of Intent, but remains to be announced. Keep an eye out for updates as we confirm the full lineup.
What We Know: Heritage Business Park has quietly become the highest-density fitness destination in the city. With a cluster of adult training and specialized youth programs, it’s a one-stop-shop for active families. Confirmed tenants include: All4Gym, Turbo Metabolic Training, We Rock the Spectrum, and Burn Boot Camp.
What To Watch: The building shells are finished and tenants are currently undergoing MEP/utilities rough-ins or interior buildouts. Watch for opening date announcements in the coming weeks and months.
What We Know: Two weeks ago, this was just a foundation. Today, the Academy Sports + Outdoors is a dominant landmark in South Celina. The massive concrete tilt-walls are fully standing and the speed of this build confirms the developer’s aggressive push to anchor the Village at Ownsby Farms.
What To Watch: Now that the shell is upright, look for the roof joists and interior structural steel to be set next. We are tracking a Late Q3/Early Q4 opening – just in time for the holiday shopping season.

As much as I love visiting these sites and interacting with local owners, I haven’t quite figured out how to be in two places at once. Between a full-time job and being a dad to two kids, time is a luxury!
